Ziggety Zag

Okay, not the Marilyn Manson song!, but the pattern of my new dress.

Remember, I started to knit a tunic/dress and really only managed to almost turn it into a Mobius. I had to start this dress 5! times, and indeed I must have unwillingly sabotaged myself – the reason: the colour green – or so I suspect.

Filati ZigZag Dress

Filati No. 35; style 28; ZigZag Dress

It all started with a Saturday Messenger video-conversation I had with my sister. We were talking about new projects and I showed I one of the knitting magazines I had, just for some inspirations.
My sister fell in love with it and started knitting immediately. I have this knitting magazine (Filati – Handstrick Mode – Ausgabe 35) for some times now, looked at it umpteen times – and it never crossed my mind.

While she was knitting she showed me her progress and by the time she finished the front piece I had bought the cotton yarn and also started knitting.
I used some green in it, and I think that was not the right choice. With the 5th attempt I changed the colour scheme and then there was no holding back.

I also changed a bit the upper part, but I am not quite sure if it will stay that way – but for the moment it will do.
A proper photo with the two of us wearing the dress (well, each her own dress) will follow soon.

Bag of the Week

My good Friend Natali from John The Master’s Shop makes the most beautiful handcrafted handbags.
Every week I will feature one of these, because I think much more people should know about them. They are beautifully crafted and absolutely unique.

This week’s bag is called Florence, and those of you who visited my old blog might have come across it already, for it uses the same fabric as my Mondo Guerra skirt.

Look what I did today!

What do you think you can make with these ingredients?

That are:

4 tblsp. flour
4 tblsp. sugar
3 tblsp. cocoa powder
5 gr baking powder
3 tblsp. Nutella (which I omitted since I didn’t have it handy)
3 tblsp. milk
3 tblsp. vegetable oil
1 Egg

mix it all together

…… and then pour it into a mug – and instead putting it into the oven…. put it into the microwave!
Yes, you read correctly… into the microwave… between 1.5 and 3 minutes (depending on you microwave) on full power.

…… and then ask yourself what went wrong?

Oh… I can hear some of you commenting on the use of the microwave, but things have to be tried out. And this was my first trial. I am not particularly fond using the microwave, but it is very, very convenient in a one person household.
Anyway, I think I overfilled the cup, which is actually not a major issue, beside the obvious one having to clean up the mess… and it doesn’t like very pretty.

Beside the fact that a little sprinkling of icing sugar would have made it look visual nicer, the taste was actually quite good. I think I might try it a second time – with Nutella, because a little treat in under 10 minutes can never underestimated. :-)
The ingredients described as above are, as this ‘experiment’ shows, enough for 2 medium-sized mugs.

Midsummer’s Day

Far from the above picture the day started with a sky laden with dark heavy clouds – but inbetween heavy downpours and light summer rain the sun came out and the day developed into a really nice Irish summer day.

Office Hours…

Nothing special, indeed…..

Style: casual

skinny jeans: Vero Moda; t-shirt, cardi, shoes, bag, belt all from Penneys;
rings and watch from River Island; bracelets: mixture from River Island & local stalls; glasses: fcuk; necklace: Wallis

… on a cool summer day…..

… when the winds blow over the west of Ireland, one is allowed to wear jean top together with yeans at the same time, if you get my drift. I think since the cropped jean jacket is white it is not so much a jean overkill – beside the fact that I used the word jean(s) now 4 times in 2 sentences…. that might be an overkill after all. :-)

Style: sporty, casual

cropped jeans, tank top, jelly watch all from New Look; scarf and bag from Dunnes Store;
bangle from RiverIsland; sandals, belt and cropped jean jacket from Penneys (Primark); glasses by Gucci

Summer Breeze, makes me feel fine…..

Who would have thought that I would ever wear leggins outside my own home after the early 1990 have passed?

Pardon the ‘funny face’ :-) , April/May 1992

cropped leggins, long T-Shirt, orange neon vest and bracelets all from Penneys (Pimark); watch from New Look, flipflops from FitFlops, glasse by Gucci, and sunshine came gratis :-)

Going… Going….. Gone!

All good intentions are for nothing if one doesn’t have the conviction to carry them out. Well, hanging my head in shame, everything I wanted to do, I didn’t do. Even knitting doesn’t come easy these days. 4 times I had to cast on for this tunic, just to realise that it is going to be a Moebius, NOT a tunic. Ask me why I didn’t see the ‘turn’ earlier on? (I’m just baffled myself.)
For the moment I put it as far away from me as possible, and before I am going to frogg it and re-cast it on for the 5th time, I have to figure out what’s going on! Although I have the slight suspicion that I am sabotaging myself….. Hm…….

Anyhow, instead I sorted out my fabrics, thoroughly, and put a lot up on Ebay for sale. Even all my lovely chiffons… simply I need a clear head, and I am only going to get one when everything is sorted out – especially my fabric stash.

Happy Easter!

Like Christmast, Easter is a time where the family comes together, enjoys each others company and good food…… and a chocolate Easter bunny, but then, this comes from our German tradition.
With the weather absolutely gorgeous at the moment I hope that everybody has a beautiful Easter time!

Belated Blogoversary!

Happy Blogoversary to myself! It is now 5 years (actually yesterday) that I started blogging, and although the posting became quite inconsistently over the last couple of years, I really don’t want to give it up altogether. In the end it is a form of a diary.

On a different note: a few years ago I singed up with Haloscan, to managed my comments (oh, well, they ‘needed’ to be managed…. not!). Some considerable time ago they were taken over, and the whole thing really annoyed me. Anyway, I decided to get rid of it, and now all the previous comments are lost. Well, that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

Herzlichen Blog-Geburtstag!

Herzlichen Blog-Geburtstag!
